Welcome to AleMUN
What is MUN?
Model United Nations (MUN) is an educational simulation of the United Nations, in which students can participate in numerous ways by being delegates, chairs or part of the Organizing Team. MUN conferences enable students to improve their argumentative skills and knowledge about diplomacy, as well as broaden their experience with English.
Before the conference, delegates are placed in committees and assigned countries, or occasionally other organizations or political figures, so that they represent members of that body. During the debate, they are confronted with the challenge of staying true to their nation’s position while discussing a current global situation previously defined by the chairs. At the end of the event, the best-performing delegates in each committee are recognized with awards.
What is AleMUN?
AleMUN is the United Nations simulation of Escola Alemã Corcovado, in Rio de Janeiro. Our event began with the engagement of the teachers Bruno Ramos, Isabela Bustamante and Florian Kiefer, who introduced the Model UN to our school and encouraged high schoolers to take part in it. AleMUN quickly grew and became a student initiative, in which the organizers were high school students themselves. In its seventh official edition, in 2024, Escola Alemã Corcovado is proud of how far AleMUN has come and of the dedicated learners who are committed in organizing it. This year, we will be welcoming other schools during the three conference days and look forward to seeing the fruitful discussion in which delegates will be engaged.
